Migration Tasmania’s 23 October invitation round resulted in 38 subclass 190 and 32 subclass 491 invitations to apply for state nomination. The lowest invited ranking scores were 317 for the permanent 190 visa and 76 for the provisional 491 visa. A total of 850 (190) and 616 (491) ROIs remain in the system. Note that these are Tasmanian ROI scores, not federal points-test scores. An invitation allows an applicant to seek nomination but does not guarantee visa approval—Home Affairs will still assess each application against federal criteria. For overseas applicants, Tasmania’s popular “Overseas Skilled Occupation Profiles” pathway remains closed for 2026-27, except for health, allied-health and teaching professionals with genuine job offers. Employers recruiting offshore nurses or teachers should confirm that positions meet the 30-hours-per-week and market-salary requirements. The relatively modest cut-off scores suggest Tasmania is still courting qualified workers, especially in regional areas hit by skills shortages. Candidates with lower federal points but strong Tasmanian ties may find state nomination a viable route to residency. Applicants should ensure all supporting evidence—skills assessments, English tests, employment references—is up-to-date; nominations can be refused if documents don’t align with ROI claims.
