The move reflects stronger forward bookings from Austrian corporates after a sluggish first quarter marked by EES-related uncertainty. Network planners say many firms are clustering meetings in “single-trip sprints” and favouring short-haul hops over multi-city itineraries; more frequencies give travellers flexibility to return the same day and avoid overnight costs. From a mobility-compliance angle, the extra flights coincide with Vienna Airport’s queuing woes. Austrian Airlines has negotiated with airport authorities to assign the new departures to gates closest to the secondary-screening area, aiming to cut Minimum Connection Times back to 40 minutes once EES kinks are ironed out. Travel managers should review contracted volumes: the incremental seats could trigger lower corporate fares on key corridors, but only if companies re-forecast demand quickly. Meanwhile, the carrier confirmed that Dreamliner fleet expansion remains on track, promising better cabin connectivity for remote-work-ready passengers.
