Outsourcing provider Capago has introduced a paid “pre-analyse” option for Algerian nationals applying for French short-stay and long-stay visas. Announced on 11 June, the service allows applicants to upload scans of their documentation before their in-person appointment at Capago’s Algiers centre. Files are reviewed within 48 hours and applicants receive a checklist indicating any missing items. The French Consulate in Algiers still makes the final visa decision, but Capago argues that pre-verification reduces rejection rates and shortens counter time from an average 15 minutes to seven. Travellers can opt in via their Capago client portal for DZD 6,000 (€40). The pilot follows similar roll-outs in South Africa and the UAE and is expected to be offered in Oran and Annaba later this year. For French employers the change could accelerate the mobilisation of Algerian hires under the Passeport Talent programme and seasonal-worker quotas. HR departments should, however, remind staff that early document screening does not guarantee a positive visa outcome and that biometric collection at the centre remains mandatory. Immigration advisers welcome the move but caution that data-protection standards must meet both EU GDPR and Algerian regulations. Capago says data are stored on servers in France and deleted 30 days after the visa decision, in line with its ANSSI accreditation. The French Foreign Ministry has not yet indicated whether the model will be extended to other key markets such as Morocco or Tunisia, but observers note that the digital-first approach aligns with President Macron’s 2025 consular-modernisation roadmap.
