India’s Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has issued an ICEGATE advisory stating that the national e-filing portal will undergo scheduled maintenance from 22:00 IST on 20 June 2026 until 08:00 IST on 21 June. During the 10-hour window, importers, freight forwarders and customs brokers will be unable to file Bills of Entry, Shipping Bills or pay duties online.

For companies juggling cross-border logistics paperwork—or travellers who suddenly need to update their travel documentation—VisaHQ can help keep the administrative wheels turning. Through its dedicated India page (https://www.visahq.com/india/), the service offers round-the-clock document checking, application preparation and status tracking, ensuring your visa, permit or customs paperwork keeps moving even when government portals like ICEGATE are down for maintenance.

The blackout coincides with the financial year-end shipping rush for many multinational companies operating on April–March accounting cycles. Logistics managers have been advised to pre-file or defer consignments, and time-critical perishables are being re-routed through manual express channels at select airports. According to CBIC, the upgrade will migrate ICEGATE’s risk-management module to a new micro-services architecture designed to slash response times during peak loads by 40 percent. It will also introduce an API layer that allows licensed customs brokers to integrate their own enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems directly, reducing duplicate data entry. While the cut-over is planned for a low-traffic weekend night, previous outages have triggered cascading delays at inland container depots when the system came back online. Corporates with time-bound export benefits (RoDTEP, Advance Authorisation) should monitor their drawback ledgers for auto-credit failures on Monday morning. Border-dependent sectors—pharmaceuticals, auto spares and electronics—are most exposed. Mobility teams moving household goods under Transfer of Residence rules should also build in extra buffer if consignments are landing during the maintenance window.
