Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) wrapped up its biggest-ever overseas roadshow on 22 June, signing more than a dozen memorandums of understanding at VivaTech 2026 in Paris. The HK Tech Pavilion—jointly organised with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council—showcased 24 growth-stage ventures whose founders travelled to France to court European distributors and investors. Organisers said the delegation generated over 200 qualified business leads worth an estimated HK $70 million. Key agreements included robotics specialist Robocore linking up with Slovenian AI firm ARCHTYP and inking a supply deal with French outdoor-advertising giant JCDecaux, while biotech start-up Algreen teamed with South Korean carbon-capture player ForNatures to co-develop sustainable materials. Such tie-ups underline Hong Kong’s pitch as a neutral bridge between Europe and the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) market of 87 million consumers. Beyond investment, talent mobility was front and centre. HKSTP confirmed that five European founders will relocate to Hong Kong this summer under its Global Acceleration Academy, using the city’s Technology Talent Admission Scheme (TechTAS) for fast-track work visas within four weeks. Paris-based Bouygues Construction also agreed to give selected Hong Kong start-ups ‘Scale One’ fast-lane access to pilot sites across its 60-country footprint—an opportunity that will see Hong Kong engineers seconded to European projects for up to six months at a time. Analysts say the deals reinforce the government’s narrative that in-person engagement is essential again after years of virtual pitching. “We’re seeing a structural rebound in outbound business travel budgets—especially for R&D and sales staff—because founders need to validate products on-site,” notes Deloitte China partner Eunice Wong. Travel-management company CWT reports that corporate bookings on the Hong Kong–Paris route are already 35 percent above the same period in 2025. Practically, companies should note that France has resumed full Schengen visa-on-paper issuance times of 15 calendar days, while Hong Kong passport holders still enjoy 90-day visa-free entry.
For founders needing to navigate the patchwork of European entry rules beyond France, VisaHQ’s Hong Kong portal (https://www.visahq.com/hong-kong/) offers an all-in-one concierge for Schengen and non-Schengen visas alike, tracking real-time consulate requirements, appointment slots and document checklists. The platform’s corporate dashboard lets mobility teams upload employee data in bulk, monitor application progress and arrange courier pick-ups—helping start-ups convert those newly minted VivaTech leads into boots on the ground without administrative hiccups.
HKSTP will run a post-event webinar on 2 July covering grant funding for European market entry and compliance tips for sending staff on short-term assignments under the EU Posted Workers Directive. For mobility managers, the upshot is clear: Hong Kong start-ups are once again deploying staff internationally at scale, and the city’s fast-track visa schemes are proving a competitive edge in winning cross-border projects.
