Alberta issues 743 provincial nominations across health, manufacturing and agriculture
On June 27, the Government of Alberta published results of seven Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) draws held between June 5 and June 15. A total of 743 invitations to apply for provincial nomination were released across the Opportunity Stream, Rural Renewal Stream and two dedicated Healthcare pathways, as well as agriculture- and manufacturing-focused Express Entry priority draws. The bulk (462) went to candidates in the Alberta Opportunity Stream with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores as low as 50—far below typical federal thresholds—underscoring the province’s bid to plug chronic labour shortages outside major cities.

VisaHQ can support both employers and applicants navigating these provincial draws by offering streamlined visa and document-processing services. Through its Canada-focused portal (https://www.visahq.com/canada/), the platform provides up-to-date guidance on application requirements, document checklists, courier options and real-time status tracking, helping AAIP candidates assemble complete files quickly and avoid costly delays.

Healthcare continued to dominate allocation strategy, receiving 165 invitations across Express Entry and non-Express Entry sub-streams, while agriculture and manufacturing accounted for 93 combined. As of mid-June, Alberta has used 2,869 of its 6,403 federal nomination spaces for 2026, leaving over 3,500 spots for the second half of the year. Employers in priority sectors are being encouraged to file job-offer endorsements quickly, as the province signals further occupation-targeted rounds are imminent. For mobility managers the message is clear: provincial routes remain the fastest path to permanent residence for workers with modest CRS scores—particularly nurses, industrial butchers, equipment operators and farm supervisors. Companies should ensure Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) documentation and language tests are current so that candidates can accept invitations within the province’s 30-day deadline. Candidates already holding a provincial nomination gain 600 CRS points, effectively guaranteeing a federal invitation once their profiles are updated, shortening total PR timelines to as little as six months.
