Dubai welcomes first passenger flight from Tehran since February conflict
Dubai International Airport (DXB) on 29 June received its first commercial arrival from Tehran since hostilities between Iran and the US-Israel coalition erupted on 28 February. The FlySepehran Boeing 737 touched down at 13:18 local time after a two-hour sector from Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA). A reciprocal outbound service was scheduled later the same afternoon.

Before the war, more than 70 weekly frequencies connected the UAE and Iran, carrying a mix of point-to-point passengers, business travellers and cargo consignments. Services were suspended after Iran launched repeated drone and missile attacks that targeted – but did not close – the world’s busiest international hub. A UN-brokered ceasefire on 8 April opened a 60-day window for peace talks, clearing the way for the phased restoration of air links.

Sepehran Airlines will operate flights on Mondays and Wednesdays, while Varash Airlines plans a weekly Tuesday rotation; additional frequencies remain subject to security clearances.

FlightRadar24 schedules show irregular seat inventory for the coming fortnight, reflecting the tentative nature of the restart and the need to rebuild load factors.

Industry analysts expect capacity to recover gradually as insurers lower war-risk premiums and corporate travel policies are updated.

If you are planning to be among the early returnees on these restored flights, VisaHQ can simplify the bureaucracy that often accompanies travel to the UAE in fluid geopolitical situations. Its UAE portal (https://www.visahq.com/united-arab-emirates/) aggregates the latest visa rules, electronic permit options and health declarations, enabling passengers and corporate travel desks to submit compliant applications quickly and focus on re-establishing business links rather than paperwork.

The reopening of the Tehran–Dubai corridor is strategically important for both economies. Iranian SMEs rely on Dubai’s free zones and banking network for re-export and treasury functions, while UAE retailers and construction firms source raw materials and skilled labour from Iran.

Travel managers are advised to monitor GCAA NOTAMs and airline advisories closely; routings may still be re-diverted at short notice if talks falter.

From a compliance perspective, passengers should anticipate enhanced screening at DXB and possible secondary interviews by Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).

Companies resuming cross-border projects should review staff insurance, crisis-management protocols and alternative routings via Doha or Muscat in case of renewed disruption.
