Air China inaugurates four-weekly Beijing–Venice nonstop, deepening 40-year China–Italy ties
Air China celebrated the maiden flight of its Beijing–Venice nonstop service on 2 July, adding a second Italian destination barely one month after the carrier launched Beijing Daxing–Milan. The new route operates four times a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday) using Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

For travellers who still need to arrange Chinese or Schengen documentation before boarding, VisaHQ can streamline the process. The company’s online platform (https://www.visahq.com/china/) provides step-by-step application support, courier options, and real-time status updates, helping passengers secure the right visas in plenty of time for these new departures.

The launch coincides with the 40th anniversary of China–Italy air links, first established in 1986 with a Beijing–Rome service. Including Venice, the Air China group now serves 25 European cities with nearly 260 weekly flights—restoring more than 90 % of its pre-pandemic long-haul capacity to the continent. For Italian exporters of luxury goods and for Chinese engineering firms bidding on infrastructure projects across northern Italy, the nonstop flight trims end-to-end journey times by up to four hours compared with transiting in Frankfurt or Doha. Venice’s tourism bureau expects the route to inject at least 40 000 additional Chinese visitor nights this year. Corporate mobility teams should note that Air China is offering promotional business-class fares until 31 August and codesharing with ITA Airways for onward connections within Italy. Cargo belly-hold capacity is also available, easing constraints on e-commerce shipments from Chinese SMEs. The opening is part of a broader China–EU aviation thaw that has seen slot reciprocity restored and EU-China Visa Application Centres in Beijing and Shanghai slash appointment wait times to under five days.
