Russian airport operator Sheremetyevo announced on 26 July that Tianjin Airlines has restarted twice-weekly flights between Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport and Moscow Sheremetyevo (SVO). The service will operate Tuesdays and Fridays using Airbus A330-200 aircraft, arriving Moscow at 10:20 and departing for China at 12:20 local time. The route was suspended in early 2025 amid aircraft-routing constraints but returns as bilateral trade rebounds and student exchanges pick up. Chongqing is home to several large-scale rail-to-air multimodal logistics hubs feeding the China–Europe Railway Express; the reinstated air link complements those corridors by offering time-critical capacity for high-value electronics and e-commerce parcels. Business travellers in China’s southwestern manufacturing triangle (Chengdu–Chongqing) now gain a one-stop option to Russia without transiting through Beijing or Shanghai—a time saving of up to six hours door-to-door. Chinese-Russian joint ventures in heavy machinery and chemicals are expected to benefit from easier site-visits and faster shipment of technical samples. Passengers can connect onward to more than 100 Russian and European destinations under Tianjin Airlines’ codeshare with Aeroflot, while Sheremetyevo’s S2 business lounge offers expedited immigration counters for premium-class ticket holders. Visa-wise, Russian business-invitation letters remain mandatory for most Chinese passport holders, but processing times have shortened to three working days in Beijing and Shanghai consulates, according to travel-agency feedback—a positive sign for resurgent corporate exchange.
