Abu Dhabi Mobility showcases smart-taxi ecosystem and low-emission fleet at ATM 2026
The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), branded ‘Abu Dhabi Mobility’, is leveraging this week’s Arabian Travel Market to highlight how the emirate’s taxi and public-transport networks are being digitised to serve a post-pandemic travel landscape. Speaking from the Department of Culture and Tourism pavilion, officials revealed that 99 percent of Abu Dhabi’s 6,147 taxis are now hybrid or electric, chalking up more than 38 million cashless payment transactions in 2025. Central to the pitch is a revamped smart-booking platform that integrates the Abu Dhabi Taxi app with third-party ride-hailing channels, allowing visitors to arrange airport transfers, city trips and inter-emirate journeys from a single interface. For corporate travel managers this translates into easier ground-transport reconciliation and the ability to pre-book sustainable vehicle classes for visiting executives. ITC executives also shared 2025 usage data: 60 million taxi passengers and 112 million bus trips across 174 routes—a scale that underpins Abu Dhabi’s ambition to host more conferences and large-scale events. The Bus Rapid Transit pilot and on-demand ‘Abu Dhabi Link’ services were flagged as models for first- and last-mile connectivity to new cultural districts such as Saadiyat Island. Beyond convenience, the showcase emphasised emissions reduction. Fleet electrification is aligned with UAE Net-Zero 2050 goals and may soon be reflected in corporate sustainability reporting for firms tracking Scope 3 travel emissions. For relocation specialists, the proliferation of digital payment methods (contactless terminals and QR codes) simplifies expense capture for assignees settling into the emirate, while the expanded network makes non-car lifestyles more viable for expatriate families.
