Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum toured the exhibition halls of ATM 2026 on 14 September, greeting 1,400-plus exhibitors and declaring that “Dubai will remain the meeting point where the future of global travel is shaped.” The 33rd edition—running until 17 September—is themed “Travel 2040” and devotes entire stages to artificial intelligence, smart mobility and destination resilience. From a global-mobility perspective, the show is a barometer of post-pandemic confidence. Delegations from 165 countries are pitching new air routes, digital-nomad visas and biometric border solutions. The Dubai Department of Economy & Tourism (DET) used opening day to preview AI-driven market-intelligence tools that will be shared with hotel partners, giving revenue managers near-real-time demand signals. The Crown Prince’s walkabout also sent a political signal: senior UAE leadership continues to back tourism diversification even as oil markets rebound. For multinational employers the message is that Dubai remains committed to being a stable base for regional headquarters and project teams. Industry panels highlighted lessons from 2026’s regional flight disruptions, with airport operators outlining contingency plans that include pop-up visa-waiver corridors and remote-processing facilities. HR and travel managers attending ATM were urged to map those contingencies into crisis-management plans and ensure employee-tracking systems can integrate with airline disruption feeds.
