Foreign Ministry urges Poles to leave Iran, Lebanon and Israel immediately
Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MSZ) on 16 September issued an urgent appeal for Polish nationals to depart Iran, Lebanon and Israel “as soon as possible” amid rapidly escalating regional tensions. The advisory upgrades all three countries to the highest “Leave Immediately” level following reports of possible military action involving the United States, Israel and Iran. In a late-evening update, MSZ warned that airspace closures could strand travellers and advised those who must remain to stock cash, keep passports and medication at hand, and register their location in the government’s Odyseusz traveller tracking system. The ministry highlighted previous instances in which sudden flight suspensions left EU citizens dependent on costly charter evacuations. The notice directly affects roughly 4,000 Polish expatriates working in the Gulf and Levant energy, construction and NGO sectors, as well as hundreds of business travellers scheduled to attend autumn trade fairs in Tel Aviv and Tehran. Several multinational firms in Poland have already activated crisis protocols, instructing staff to defer trips and reviewing insurance coverage for high-risk zones. Airlines flying through Polish hubs reacted swiftly: LOT Polish Airlines allowed ticket changes free of charge for Middle East routes, while Turkish Airlines cancelled evening services from Istanbul to Tehran. Travel-management companies report a surge in re-routing requests via Amman and Doha. Corporate mobility managers should cross-check travel inventories for passengers presently in the affected countries, brief assignees on contingency evacuation plans, and verify that all employees have loaded the Odyseusz app and the EU’s “SOS EU” emergency number onto their phones.
