Although the downtime falls on a weekend, it coincides with the peak of Finland’s autumn corporate-relocation season, when new assignees often need to exchange licences or register imported vehicles within seven days of arrival. A Traficom spokesperson said the upgrade is necessary to prepare back-end systems for the EU’s forthcoming Digital Driving Licence (DDL) format, due to launch in 2027. Service functionality will resume automatically once database migrations are complete, but users may need to clear browser caches to log back in. Logistics operators holding time-sensitive freight permits and yacht-charter companies arranging end-of-season crew changes should verify paperwork on Friday. Traficom will post real-time status updates on X/Twitter (@TraficomFinland) and recommends that anyone who encounters errors after the patch contact the helpdesk via email rather than telephone to avoid queues. For HR and global-mobility teams, the practical implication is a 48-hour buffer: any employee who expects to collect a leased car, sit a theory test, or register a pleasure craft over the weekend should ensure that transactions are finalised by 18:00 on Friday or postponed until Monday morning.
