UK Updates Czechia Travel Advice With Entry-Exit System Reminder
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) re-validated its Czechia travel advice page on 20 September, keeping the guidance current and drawing attention to the forthcoming European Entry-Exit System (EES). Although the substantive update on EES was made in August, the “still current” datestamp reassures travellers that no new restrictions have been introduced ahead of the autumn conference season. EES, due to start later this year, will require non-EU nationals – including British business travellers – to provide fingerprints and facial images at the border and to have each entry and exit automatically recorded. The FCDO note urges visitors to factor in additional processing time at Prague and Brno airports once the system goes live. For companies, this means revisiting staff-travel schedules and advising employees to allow longer connections when entering the Schengen area via Czech hubs. The reminder is particularly pertinent to UK-based firms attending the European Cybersecurity Forum in Prague in October and the CE Automotive Supply-Chain Summit in November. Mobility managers should ensure travellers’ passports have at least three months’ validity beyond the planned departure date, as the EES checks will enforce Schengen validity rules strictly. While no action is required immediately, corporates with frequent UK-Czech traffic are beginning to brief travellers on the new biometric kiosks and to update travel-policy FAQs. Airlines operating UK–Prague routes, including British Airways and easyJet, have welcomed the FCDO’s emphasis on early preparation, noting that smooth passenger flows will depend on travellers understanding the new procedures before they arrive at the airport.
