Vodochody Airport Cuts ATC Hours 14–25 Sept for Controller Training
Prague’s secondary international gateway, Vodochody Airport (LKVO), has announced restricted operating hours for air-traffic services between 14 and 25 September 2026. In a notice published on the airport’s pilot information page, management says ATC will only be available from 07:30–09:40 UTC and 11:20–13:30 UTC while trainee controllers undergo mandatory simulator and live-traffic exercises. Although Vodochody handles mainly corporate jets, cargo charters and aircraft-manufacturing test flights, the temporary reduction could still affect time-sensitive mobility projects. Several multinational companies use the airport for same-day shuttle flights linking production sites in Ústí nad Labem with headquarters in Germany and Italy. Operators planning arrivals or departures outside the reduced ATC windows will need prior permission (PPR) and may face re-routing to Prague’s main airport, adding ground-transfer time and costs. Flight-support provider Jetex reports that half a dozen business-aviation slots requested for 16–20 September were declined because they clashed with training periods. The Czech Aeronautical Association has advised domestic charter firms to file flight plans at least 24 hours in advance and monitor NOTAM updates in case the training overruns. From a mobility-programme perspective, HR departments coordinating executive visits or fly-in technical specialists should double-check itineraries. If project timelines are inflexible, companies might consider repositioning aircraft to Karlovy Vary or Brno-Tuřany overnight, though both options involve a two-hour road transfer to northern Prague industrial zones.
