The Polish Embassy in Cairo has issued a notice reminding Egyptian and other visa-exempt nationals that the EU’s long-delayed European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) is now slated to go live in 2027. Once operational, ETIAS authorisation will become a mandatory pre-travel requirement for short stays in Poland and the wider Schengen Area. Although the formal start date has yet to be fixed, the embassy’s 20 September 2026 circular urges tour operators and business-trip organisers to begin integrating the €7 online application into their booking flows. ETIAS approvals will be valid for three years—or until the traveller’s passport expires—and will allow multiple entries of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. For Polish companies that host non-EU clients or rotate staff from visa-waiver countries such as the United States, Japan and the UAE, the message is clear: build ETIAS checks into invitation letters and travel-policy templates now. Failure to obtain authorisation will result in airline boarding denials, potentially derailing time-sensitive meetings and projects. The embassy also emphasised that ETIAS is not a visa and does not override standard entry conditions; border officers can still refuse admission. Poland’s Border Guard plans to run awareness campaigns at major airports in 2027 to smooth the transition.
