Pitsas Insurance on 24 September unveiled an online portal that allows foreign nationals to purchase the compulsory health-insurance policy required for most Cyprus residence and work-permit applications entirely online. Applicants can compare premiums, pay by card and receive policy documents instantly, eliminating the need for in-person visits. Immigration regulations mandate so-called ‘Plan A’ medical cover — including outpatient, inpatient and repatriation benefits — before a Temporary Residence (Pink Slip) or EU registration (MEU1/3) can be filed. Until now, many applicants waited days for quotes and stamped originals. Pitsas says its platform generates digital certificates accepted by the Civil Registry & Migration Department. The launch coincides with the Government’s wider push to digitise migration services, including forthcoming online renewal of permits. For relocation managers handling bulk hires, the ability to bundle insurance with documentation upload could shave several days off onboarding timelines. Users should verify that digital certificates are printed and submitted in colour where required; some consulates still insist on hard copies until e-filing is fully operational. Competing insurers are expected to follow suit, potentially driving down premiums.
