Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) confirmed on 26 September that additional time-and-route restrictions on heavy-goods vehicles will take effect from 1 October. Under the new rules, articulated lorries and trailers will be barred from several key corridors—including Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Al Khail Road and Umm Suqeim Street—during the morning (06:30–08:30) and evening (13:00–15:00 and 17:30–20:00) peaks. Emirates Road (E611) remains exempt. Khaleej Times quotes RTA officials as saying the move aims to reduce congestion and accident risk as school terms resume and commuter volumes climb. The restrictions complement Dubai Police’s existing midday summer ban on trucks crossing the city centre. From a mobility perspective, the policy will lengthen transit times for household-goods movers and corporate relocation shipments destined for downtown Dubai or the free-zone corridor. Logistics firms are already revising delivery windows and advising customers to schedule moves either before dawn or after 20:00. Companies running just-in-time manufacturing operations in Jebel Ali Free Zone may face knock-on inventory challenges. Mobility managers should coordinate with freight forwarders to avoid customs clearance bottlenecks at JAFZA gates, which typically experience a surge immediately after restriction periods are lifted.
