Carcassonne airshow diverts commercial flights to Perpignan and imposes road closures on 27 September

The “Des Étoiles et des Ailes” airshow concludes today, 27 September, at Carcassonne Sud-de-France Airport. Under temporary operational arrangements published by the airport, all Ryanair and Volotea flights are operating from Perpignan–Rivesaltes (PGF), 90 kilometres south-west, with free shuttle buses linking the two airports. Passengers must check in at least two hours before departure at Perpignan and should note that only Car Park P1 is open at Carcassonne, albeit at reduced P3 tariffs. Local police have closed access roads D119 and D6161 around the airfield between 08:00 and 19:00; GPS navigation apps may not reflect the closures in real time. The diversion affects inbound leisure travel from the UK, Ireland and Belgium as well as wine-industry professionals attending harvest kick-off events in the Aude. Logistics providers moving just-in-time spare parts for Airbus in Toulouse report adding three hours’ round-trip time to courier runs. The airshow, headlined by the Patrouille de France aerobatic team, is expected to draw 25 000 spectators today. Airport management says normal commercial operations will resume with the first Dublin flight at 06:35 on Monday, 28 September, but advises checking status again this evening.
