Border officials nonetheless caution that volumes are still below the October school-holiday peak and that unfamiliar passengers can cause bottlenecks when fingerprints fail to scan. Airlines have therefore maintained the recommendation that non-EU travellers arrive at least two hours before departure and allow extra transit time should EES kiosks be located before—not after—security screening. For mobility teams relocating staff into France, the smooth start is encouraging. Unlike at some Spanish and Portuguese airports, where teething problems triggered hour-long queues, CDG’s deployment benefits from extensive dry-runs during the 2024 Olympics. Businesses should still brief arriving employees on the need to remove masks and glasses when using facial-recognition cameras, and to carry an alternative travel document if their primary passport’s chip is damaged. Looking ahead, airport operator ADP plans to expand EES lanes to Terminal 1 by mid-October, coinciding with the restart of several North American routes. Should throughput remain stable, ADP may reduce the number of staffed booths and redeploy officers to risk-profiling tasks, potentially speeding the clearance of frequent business travellers even further. For now, the early metrics offer reassurance that EES—often flagged as a potential capacity crunch—need not materially hinder corporate travellers at France’s main international gateway.
