Sharjah-based Air Arabia announced on 8 October that it will inaugurate four-weekly flights from Sharjah International Airport to Amman City Airport (ADJ) on 15 November 2026. The new route complements the carrier’s existing Sharjah-Queen Alia services and makes Air Arabia the first UAE airline to connect both of Jordan’s capital airports. Why it matters: Amman City Airport sits closer to Jordan’s central business district than Queen Alia, shaving up to 40 minutes off ground transfers for executives. UAE-Jordan bilateral trade exceeded US$3 billion in 2025; the additional connectivity supports consulting, construction and defence contractors that shuttle staff between the two countries. From a network-planning perspective the move strengthens Air Arabia’s growing point-to-point model. Group CEO Adel Al Ali said the expansion “gives our customers access to a second airport in the capital”, signalling a strategy of multi-airport presence in key markets—important as regional competitors chase the same price-sensitive passenger base. Corporate travel implications: Mobility managers gain schedule flexibility and, potentially, lower fares thanks to airport fee differentials at ADJ. Cargo shippers—especially express and e-commerce—may use the smaller airport’s faster turnarounds for just-in-time deliveries. Employers should, however, brief travellers on ADJ’s more limited lounge and immigration facilities compared with Queen Alia.
