Pilots represented by the SNPL and SPAC unions have launched a strike from 9 to 16 October after breakdowns in wage talks with management. The work stoppage affects nearly all public-service obligation (PSO) routes between the island’s four airports and Marseille, Nice and Paris-Orly, as well as several seasonal services. Air Corsica usually handles more than 50 daily rotations, many of which feed Air France codeshares crucial for connecting itineraries. The Striketracker platform shows the carrier has pre-emptively cancelled 60 % of flights on the first day, rebooking passengers on larger aircraft operated by Air France or on the Corsica Linea ferry network. Cargo capacity for pharmaceutical and perishable goods is also constrained, posing challenges for supply-chain managers. For corporate travellers, alternatives include maritime crossings and limited seats on Volotea and easyJet, but these are expected to sell out quickly. Employers with personnel stationed at the island’s space and defence facilities in Ajaccio and Bastia should review contingency plans and remote-work arrangements. Negotiations are set to resume on 12 October under prefectural mediation, but unions threaten to extend action into the autumn school holidays if no deal emerges.
