The CGT-RATP’s open-ended strike, active since 28 September, entered its twelfth day on 9 October with severe disruptions on metro lines 3, 5, 11 and RER B. The independent tracker IsItAStrike.com reported service levels as low as 30 % on key commuter routes into La Défense and Charles-de-Gaulle-Étoile. International arrivals at Gare du Nord and CDG airport face lengthier transfers, with taxi wait times exceeding 60 minutes in the morning peak. The Paris Convention Bureau estimates that three corporate conferences due over the weekend have advised delegates to switch to hotels within walking distance of venues, and some organisers have arranged private shuttle buses. Travel managers should budget extra transit time, pre-book airport shuttles and remind staff that Uber and Bolt apply surge pricing during strike windows. Employers reimbursing local transport costs may see higher expense claims; consider temporary per-diem adjustments. RATP management says talks with unions are stalled over weekend staffing premiums. No minimum-service law applies to the Paris metro, so disruption could persist indefinitely.
