Dublin Airport expects to handle about 11 million passengers between June and the end of August—an all-time high and two per cent above last year’s record, according to travel-trade outlet ITTN. Demand is being fuelled by a bumper schedule of 190 destinations, 2,600 weekly departures and new routes to Oslo, Asturias, Raleigh–Durham and Shanghai. Airport operator daa says a raft of terminal upgrades should prevent a repeat of 2022’s headline-grabbing queues. Extra seating, clearer wayfinding, a new fast-track lane in Terminal 1 and two expanded lounges—51st & Green for US-bound travellers and The Phoenix for short-haul—have already opened. Management is again targeting a 95 per cent success rate of getting guests through security in under 20 minutes. Key for business travellers is the completion of C3 CT-scanner roll-out across both terminals. The technology allows liquids and electronics to remain inside cabin bags and raises the container limit from 100 ml to two litres. While the change eliminates the need for last-minute repacking at Dublin, daa reminds outbound passengers to check whether the old restrictions still apply on their return leg. The airport’s summer advisory urges short-haul passengers to arrive two hours before departure and long-haulers three hours. With London Heathrow, Amsterdam and Manchester again topping the route chart, corporate-travel managers are being asked to stagger departure times for large group moves to ease peak-hour congestion. For mobility teams the message is clear: flight availability is strong, security throughput is faster, but staffing constraints at other European hubs could still ripple through connections—so build buffer time into itineraries.
