Travellers planning to exit Poland into Belarus face new hurdles after the National Revenue Administration updated its live border portal on Sunday evening to show a full suspension of passenger and freight clearance at the Połowce and Sławatycze posts. The notice, dated 14 June 19:54, lists the status of both crossings as "ruch zawieszony"—traffic suspended—with no projected reopening time. The closures are part of Warsaw’s rolling security response to what the interior ministry calls ‘instrumentalised’ migration pressure from Minsk. Since February several smaller road gates have been shut without warning whenever Polish intelligence reports unusual people-smuggling patterns or attempts to move sanctioned goods. For logistics operators the immediate impact is the diversion of HGVs to the already congested Koroszczyn/Kukuryki freight terminal on the A2 motorway or, further north, to Terespol. Supply-chain consultancies estimate that rerouting adds 120 km and up to six hours to a Warsaw–Minsk round trip, raising fuel costs by roughly €150 per truck and complicating just-in-time parts deliveries to Belarusian factories. Business-visa holders also suffer. With no passenger processing at Połowce or Sławatycze, those travelling to Hrodna or Brest must detour via the Kuźnica – Bruzgi crossing in Podlaskie, where Polish border guards already run full document and vehicle inspections following episodes of violence in 2025. Companies with expatriate staff in Belarus are advised to revise evacuation and medical-emergency plans. Aviation options remain limited after EU sanctions grounded most Belarus-based carriers; chartering via Vilnius or Riga may now be faster than overland travel.
