An Garda Síochána has issued a detailed operational notice ahead of the informal meeting of EU Competitiveness Ministers taking place in Dublin Castle from 9-10 July 2026. The gathering is Ireland’s first high-level Council Presidency event and will see delegations from all 26 other EU Member States arriving via Dublin Airport on Thursday morning and departing Friday evening. To safeguard dignitaries, Gardaí have closed Castle Street, Ship Street Little and Ship Street Great to all traffic and pedestrians until 31 December 2026. Rolling road closures and motorcycle escorts will disrupt the south city-centre on Thursday afternoon (approx. 15:00-19:00) and again Friday between 08:00-09:30. While airport operations remain “normal”, travellers connecting through Dublin should plan extra time for transfers into the city and check hotel access if staying near Dublin 8. The Irish Aviation Authority has created temporary restricted airspace around key venues, including Dublin Castle and the Guinness Open Gate Brewery. All drones (UAS) are prohibited within these zones; detection systems will pinpoint rogue pilots and offenders face prosecution. Corporate media teams intending aerial footage must seek specific IAA clearances. Business-travel managers are advised to reroute staff away from affected streets or schedule virtual meetings. Multinationals hosting side-events should register vehicle details with Garda Protective Services and brief attendees on ID checks at checkpoints. Courier and relocation firms operating in the city centre may experience short, unpredictable delays; contingency delivery windows are recommended. Although the disruption is localised, the event underscores Ireland’s role in shaping EU industrial policy during its six-month Presidency. Companies with supply-chain or regulatory interests should monitor further Presidency-related mobility advisories, as roughly 150 ministerial meetings are planned nationwide through December.
