Bus Éireann has warned passengers to expect widespread cancellations, diversions and delays on Sunday, 19 July 2026, as multiple high-profile events converge on the national road network. Real-time notices posted to the operator’s Service Updates portal at 14:43 and 17:58 confirm that services on more than 30 routes—from Expressway inter-city coaches to Cork, Galway and Limerick city buses—are being re-routed or suspended. The biggest single pressure point is Dublin, where 82,300 fans are descending on Croke Park for the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final. Between 17:00 and 19:00, classic commuter corridors such as the N1 and Drumcondra Road are closed to private traffic; routes 101, 109, 109X and 111 are diverting to alternative stops at Busáras and Whitehall Church. Provincial cities are equally affected: Limerick has cordoned off O’Connell Avenue and Mallow Street for big-screen match viewings, forcing the 301, 304A and 314 onto lengthy detours, while Galway-Ennis route 350 lost its 10:30 service after a breakdown in Liscannor. For business travellers and assignees, the timing could hardly be worse. Mid-July is peak holiday-changeover week for multinational staff, and many rely on Bus Éireann to connect regional offices with Dublin Airport. The operator has already cancelled airport-bound coaches on the Wexford Route 2, and advises would-be flyers to build in at least an extra hour and to monitor the TFI Live or RTPI apps for real-time coach positions. The Transport for Ireland (TFI) network warns that road closures may also spill over to private transfers and ride-share pick-ups. Corporate mobility managers are urging employees to pre-book taxi alternatives or, where feasible, take rail connections to Dublin’s Heuston or Connolly stations before switching to the Airlink or Dublin Express shuttles. They also remind travellers that Irish consumer law requires carriers to offer a choice of refund or reroute in the event of a cancellation—rights that apply equally to domestic bus journeys. Looking ahead, Bus Éireann notes that some diversions, particularly in Cork’s Knockpogue Avenue area, will last until 29 July because of scheduled roadworks.
