On 21 July 2026 the Directorate-General for Immigration at Italy’s Ministry of Labour and Social Policies published the latest quarterly update on Minori Stranieri Non Accompagnati (MSNA) – unaccompanied foreign minors recorded in the national SIM database. The dashboard, which is now available online, captures the situation as at 30 June 2026 and offers granular, municipality-level data on the number of minors present in reception facilities, new arrivals, family reunifications and exits from the system. According to the release, 16,480 unaccompanied minors were present in Italy at the end of June, up 7 % on the same date in 2025. The largest groups of origin continue to be from Egypt (21 %), Albania (15 %) and Bangladesh (8 %). Sicily, Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna host more than half of all MSNA placements; the report highlights particular pressure on the province of Agrigento, where arrivals rose 22 % in the first half of the year. The Ministry notes that the interactive dashboard is designed to help prefectures, municipalities and third-sector operators allocate reception places in real time and plan education, healthcare and guardianship services. It also underpins budget transfers from the central Solidarity Fund for MSNA, which this year will disburse €210 million to local authorities. Employers operating apprenticeship or traineeship schemes can use the data to identify provinces where integration pathways are most needed. For global mobility and corporate HR teams, the statistics provide early warning of potential labour-market integration programmes that may open later in the year. Companies engaging in social-impact projects or hiring under Article 32 of the Consolidated Immigration Act can align their planning with the regions that are about to release 17-year-olds from the reception system into the workforce. The publication also signals that Italy intends to keep MSNA transparency high on the political agenda as negotiations continue in Brussels on the implementation of the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum. The Ministry confirmed that similar dashboards will be released every month starting from September to support the new national strategy on unaccompanied minors due for adoption in Q4 2026.
