Condor to Base Two Jets and Add Seven Leisure Routes from Münster/Osnabrück
German leisure carrier Condor will deepen its presence in North-Rhine Westphalia by maintaining an Airbus A320 at Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO) through summer 2027 and upgrading to two overnighting aircraft for peak operations. In a release posted on Routes 360 at 10:18 on 24 July 2026, the airport said Condor will retain winter flights to Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Hurghada and from May 2027 launch new services to Fuerteventura, Rhodes, Heraklion and—new for FMO—Chania. The move bolsters FMO’s connectivity to major Mediterranean and Red Sea holiday markets and provides regional exporters with additional belly-hold capacity. For mobility managers, the expanded network offers new weekend commuting options for project teams and easier family-visit itineraries for expatriates based in Osnabrück’s sizeable automotive-supply cluster. Airport officials highlighted that Palma de Mallorca will operate seven times weekly next season, starting earlier than usual to capture Easter holiday demand. Condor’s decision follows a 9 % year-on-year rise in FMO passenger volumes in H1 2026, with leisure traffic outpacing business by a factor of three. From a talent-attraction perspective, the extra nonstop links reduce reliance on Düsseldorf or Hamburg, cutting door-to-door travel times for international recruits. HR departments should update relocation guides to reflect the new options and check per-diem tables, as Greek and Spanish islands have different cost-of-living indices than Egypt. Condor’s expansion also signals continued fragmentation of German air service, with secondary airports competing aggressively through incentive packages. Companies with frequent flyers may revisit corporate travel policies to include FMO as a preferred point of departure when routing via Frankfurt is not essential.
