Irish Ferries cancels Tuesday morning Dublin–Holyhead Swift crossing
Irish Ferries has informed passengers that the 07:30 Dublin–Holyhead sailing of its high-speed catamaran Dublin Swift on 28 July is cancelled for “operational reasons”. Affected travellers have been offered space on the 08:15 conventional ferry Ulysses or the option of re-routing later in the day without penalty. The last-minute cancellation highlights the vulnerability of the fast-craft service, popular with business travellers making day-return trips to the UK. Sea conditions are benign, suggesting the issue relates to technical maintenance or crewing. With peak-holiday vehicle decks already close to capacity, re-accommodation options are limited. Global-mobility teams shuttling technicians between Ireland and client sites in North Wales should alert travellers to possible knock-on delays on the west-bound leg and consider switching to air if timing is critical. The disruption also affects freight forwarders that rely on the Swift for express van traffic. Time-definite consignments may miss same-day delivery windows in the UK Midlands unless moved onto earlier Stena Line departures. Irish Ferries says customers will receive SMS updates and should check in at least 60 minutes before the alternative sailing they have been assigned.
