Hong Kong’s Transport Department issued Special Traffic News on the evening of 15 September detailing temporary service adjustments across land and sea routes to meet Golden Week demand and facilitate infrastructure works. From 25 September to 4 October, the China Railway Guangzhou Group will run 26 additional daily trains on the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link. Peak-hour shuttles G5834-G5868 will operate between Hong Kong West Kowloon and Futian, while a new G5680/G5679 pair will give direct morning connections to Shenzhen Bei. Tickets went on sale today via the 12306 platform and authorised agents, and employers are urged to remind mainland-based staff to secure seats early. Ferry operators are fine-tuning schedules as well. On 16 September, Park Island Transport will replace selected Ma Wan–Central evening sailings with dedicated bus Route NR338S, and cancel an early-morning Ma Wan–Tsuen Wan run, freeing vessels for maintenance before the holiday surge. Separately, authorities confirmed an overnight closure of the northbound Sha Tin Road section connected to Lion Rock Tunnel in the small hours of 19 September for the T4 Trunk Road project. Diversions will be sign-posted, but logistics firms moving cross-boundary goods are advised to reroute via Tai Po Road. Business travellers should build contingency time into itineraries, particularly those with same-day meetings in Shenzhen or Guangzhou. Travel consultants say the new trains will shorten door-to-door journeys to Futian to 14 minutes, but queues at mainland immigration counters could still exceed 40 minutes during peak evening periods.
