Eurocontrol’s Airport Corner has issued a notice of an “airport nightly closure” at Warsaw Chopin (EPWA) from 21:30 local on 20 September until 03:30 on 21 September to allow renovation of the main runway intersection. Airlines have re-scheduled or cancelled several late-evening arrivals and early-morning departures, and ground-handling agents warn of possible baggage delays on flights that do operate. The closure marks the first in a series of maintenance windows lasting to late October, during which at least one of the airport’s three runways will be unavailable each weeknight. LOT Polish Airlines has already pre-emptively trimmed its schedule; low-cost carriers Wizz Air and Ryanair will divert certain flights to Łódź and Katowice. For corporate travellers the biggest impact will be on red-eye returns from Western Europe and the Middle East that normally land just after midnight. Travel managers should check updated timetables and build longer connection buffers for passengers transiting through Warsaw on 21 September. Cargo operators moving high-value or temperature-controlled goods should confirm whether handling facilities remain staffed overnight or need to store consignments off-airport. The airport authority says works are timed to minimise daytime disruption and promises runway 15/33 will remain available during most closures, but urges passengers to arrive earlier as security lines may lengthen when flights bunch around the reopening at 03:30.
