AirHelp’s daily disruption board listed two LOT Polish Airlines cancellations on 19 September: flight LO 265 from Warsaw to Amsterdam and flight LO 460 from Copenhagen to Warsaw, both scheduled for around 05:25 CEST. While the carrier has not given a formal cause, aviation analysts point to tonight’s scheduled runway works at Warsaw Chopin as a likely contributing factor. Under EU Regulation 261/2004, passengers whose flights are cancelled with less than 14 days’ notice are entitled to re-routing or refund and, depending on circumstances, compensation of up to €250 for the short Warsaw–Amsterdam sector and up to €400 for the Copenhagen–Warsaw service. Business travellers with onward connections were particularly hard-hit, with several reporting missed meetings in the Netherlands. Travel managers should advise affected staff to keep receipts for any additional accommodation or ground-transport costs, which the airline must reimburse. The incident also underscores the operational knock-on effects of infrastructure works at Poland’s busiest airport. With more night-time closures scheduled through late October, corporates may wish to book first-wave departures on alternate carriers out of Kraków or Berlin to de-risk critical trips. Passengers can file claims via LOT’s website or third-party services such as AirHelp; payouts typically take four to six weeks if uncontested.
