Václav Havel Airport Prague has issued an urgent travel advisory for anyone flying in or out of the Czech capital this week. From 9 to 25 September the main exit to the airport from the Kladno/Slaný direction is completely closed due to road works, forcing cars and coaches onto a longer detour and creating bottlenecks on the R7 motorway. The airport operator recommends passengers arrive at least 30 minutes earlier than usual—2½ hours before a European flight and 3 hours for long-haul departures—to clear check-in, security and, where applicable, passport control queues in time. Ride-hailing companies have updated their apps to reflect the diversion, while public-bus operators have added up to ten minutes to scheduled journey times from the city centre. Employees of multinational firms based in Prague’s business parks have been reminded to factor the delay into airport transfers for visiting executives and assignees. Cargo forwarders are also affected. Czech Post and DHL both told customers to expect possible delays in same-day express shipments that transit through the airport’s freight zone. The airport has set up additional customer-service kiosks at the Terminal 2 drop-off area to answer questions in Czech, English, German and Russian. Although the works fall outside the terminal perimeter, they coincide with a seasonal spike in mobility traffic as expatriate families return from summer holidays and international students arrive for the autumn semester. HR teams coordinating temporary accommodation and airport pickups should update arrival instructions and keep drivers on standby in case of extended congestion. According to the airport’s infrastructure unit, weather-dependent asphalt curing is on schedule and the exit should reopen before the morning peak on Monday 28 September, restoring normal access ahead of the busy October trade-fair season.
