The Polish Embassy in Paris has released detailed guidance on the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS), now scheduled to go live in 2027. In a 21 September consular notice the mission reminds dual Polish-foreign citizens that ETIAS will apply only to third-country passports; travellers entering France or any other Schengen state on a Polish passport will remain exempt. ETIAS will require visa-exempt nationals—including Americans, Brits and Canadians—to secure an online travel authorisation before boarding. The authorisation will cost €7, be valid for three years and allow multiple short-term stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Although not a visa, ETIAS data will feed directly into the EU’s Entry/Exit System, enabling authorities to track overstay risks more accurately. The embassy urges Polish citizens who also hold a non-EU passport to travel on their Polish document where possible to avoid ETIAS fees and reduce border-control time. Corporations relocating staff to the EU from visa-waiver countries should budget additional lead-time—Airline APIs will deny boarding to passengers lacking a valid ETIAS authorisation. While the European Commission has yet to publish an exact launch date, Warsaw airports are already installing ETIAS carrier-connectivity modules, and the Border Guard says public-facing information campaigns will start in Q2 2027. Employers should begin updating pre-travel checklists and traveller-tracking systems to capture ETIAS status by passport.
