Air China announced on 23 September that passengers purchasing its ‘branded fare’ products on all China–Europe, China–Americas, China–Africa and China–Oceania routes will receive a complimentary airport-transfer voucher that can be redeemed for ride-hailing or limousine services at the destination city. The perk also applies to select regional flights to Thailand, Singapore and the UAE. The flag carrier said the benefit—effective for tickets issued from 23 September onward—aims to “enrich travel choices” and support the post-pandemic recovery of premium long-haul demand. For corporate mobility managers, the voucher could shave up to US$80 off ground-transport budgets in high-cost cities such as Los Angeles or Frankfurt. Travel-management companies welcomed the move, noting that complimentary transfers can simplify duty-of-care obligations for late-night arrivals. “Embedding first-mile ground transport into the ticket removes a logistical pain point for relocating staff,” said an agent at Ctrip Corporate. The initiative also signals intensifying competition among Chinese carriers to differentiate their product as international capacity returns to near-2019 levels. China Southern recently introduced lounge-access bundles, while Hainan Airlines is trialling free rail passes for transit passengers in Xi’an. Companies booking through global distribution systems should ensure their fare rules database is updated to capture the voucher entitlement; eligibility is tied to specific fare families rather than cabin class alone. Redemption details will be emailed automatically after ticket issuance and can be accessed via the ‘Air China Transfer’ mini-program on WeChat.
