Cembra says the Konnex complex—converted from an historic industrial site—offers high-speed rail connectivity (12 minutes to Zurich HB, 50 minutes to Basel) and direct motorway access, as well as flexible floor plates that support hybrid work patterns. From a compliance standpoint, the move keeps the company within the economic area of Zurich but may affect cantonal tax rates, local labour-law jurisdiction and the quota allocation for non-EU/EFTA assignees; mobility teams will therefore need to update cost-projection calculators and renegotiate certain canton-level permits. The bank has already begun consultation with third-party relocation providers to secure temporary accommodation blocks near Baden Nord and to arrange orientation tours for international hires arriving after January 2027. In parallel, Cembra’s HR department plans to revise its commuting allowance to incorporate the Baden–Zurich rail pass and is in talks with local authorities to secure additional crèche places for expatriate families. The announcement comes amid a broader trend of Swiss financial institutions seeking more cost-efficient office hubs outside central Zurich, following recent moves by Vontobel (to Baar) and private-bank start-ups to Zug.
