British Columbia’s Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) held a targeted draw on October 8 under its “Build” priority framework, issuing 115 invitations to candidates in key construction trades with a minimum score of 94. Occupations targeted include carpenters, plumbers, electricians and crane operators—roles the province labels critical for housing and infrastructure commitments. The “Build” priority pathway, introduced in early 2026, lets B.C. hand-pick profiles outside the main Skills Immigration registers when acute labour shortages arise. Successful nominees receive a work-permit support letter within two weeks, allowing employers to onboard much faster than through federal LMIA channels. Once provincial nomination is issued, applicants gain 600 Express Entry points and can generally apply for permanent residence within six months. Construction and engineering firms welcome the quick turnaround. “Metro Vancouver’s multi-tower projects hinge on access to Red Seal carpenters,” says Priya Gill, head of talent mobility at Pacific Build Group. “The B.C. PNP’s priority draws shave months off recruitment cycles and dramatically improve retention because workers see a clear PR pathway.” Prospective applicants must hold a full-time job offer from a B.C. employer and meet Canadian Language Benchmark 4. The province continues to run weekly general draws alongside sector-specific invitations for health care (“Care”) and digital occupations (“Tech”).
