Low-cost giant Ryanair will from 10 November require all passengers— including those departing from its ten Polish destinations— to drop checked bags no later than 60 minutes before scheduled departure, replacing the current 40-minute cut-off. The new rule, announced on 18 October, applies system-wide and is designed to reduce last-minute loading delays that ripple through the carrier’s tight aircraft-turnaround model. For corporate travellers used to arriving close to gate closure, the change is significant. Mobility managers should update traveller communications and booking tools to flag the earlier deadline, especially on high-volume domestic shuttles such as Kraków–Gdańsk or international business trunk routes from Warsaw-Modlin to London Stansted. Failure to meet the cut-off will force passengers to rebook on a later flight at walk-up fares. Ryanair’s move brings its policy in line with legacy carriers operating out of Warsaw-Chopin, which typically require bag drop 60 – 75 minutes before departure, but is a marked shift for regional airports such as Poznań or Rzeszów where passengers have relied on shorter queues. Travellers with fast-track security or lounge access issued by travel-management companies should note that these benefits do not override the baggage deadline. The airline says that self-service bag-drop kiosks and additional belt capacity are being installed at Warsaw-Modlin (WMI) and Wrocław (WRO) to ease peak-hour congestion ahead of the change.
