Montreux-Berner Oberland (BLB/MOB) Railway has announced overnight engineering works that will close the Zweisimmen–Lenk section on the evenings of 22 and 23 July 2026. From 20:06 to 22:54 all trains will be replaced by buses, with onward connections to Swiss Federal Railways at Zweisimmen coordinated but not guaranteed. Although the Oberland line is primarily leisure-oriented, the closure affects workers commuting from the Simmental into Bern and international tourists transferring from GoldenPass services coming from Montreux. The interruption also breaks a key feeder link for tour groups catching early-morning flights out of Bern-Belp and Zurich. For mobility planners the main concern is connecting time at Zweisimmen: replacement buses add up to 30 minutes and may jeopardise last-train connections to Spiez and Bern (22:23 departure). Companies with late-shift staff in Lenk are advised to arrange pooled taxis or temporary accommodation. The works are part of a CHF 48 million track-renewal programme that will allow the introduction of new low-floor rolling stock in 2027, which is expected to improve accessibility for travellers with reduced mobility. While disruption is modest, HR teams organising incentive trips or expatriate welcome programmes in the Bernese Alps should update travel briefs accordingly.
