U.S. Customs and Border Protection today launched the new “Trusted Traveler” mobile application, consolidating the functionality of the Global Entry mobile app and the Trusted Traveler Programs (TTP) app into a single platform. Both legacy apps will cease to function after September 15; users are being prompted to download the replacement from the Apple App Store or Google Play. The unified app allows Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI and FAST members to manage their profiles, access mobile passport control and, eventually, schedule enrollment center interviews. Current credentials migrate automatically, eliminating the need to create new accounts or reapply for program membership. CBP says the change will streamline maintenance, reduce cybersecurity surface area and accelerate the rollout of new biometric features. For frequent business travelers, the move promises a single sign-on experience and fewer steps at inspection kiosks. Aviation partners welcome the consolidation, noting that the Global Entry app processed nearly 30 percent of arrivals at major U.S. hubs last quarter. Airports will update signage over the next week; carriers are already pushing notifications to passengers with registered Known Traveler Numbers. Mobility managers should circulate IT-security guidance: employees should download only the official app published by “U.S. Customs and Border Protection” and verify that mobile-device management policies permit installation. Because the legacy apps will stop working, travelers who rely on mobile QR codes for expedited entry need to transition before their next international trip. CBP emphasizes that program rules, eligibility criteria and fees remain unchanged. However, the agency hinted that future releases could integrate interview scheduling, real-time airport wait times and renewal reminders—features long requested by Global Entry members. Companies with high-volume cross-border traffic, particularly along the U.S.–Canada and U.S.–Mexico corridors, stand to benefit from smoother employee adoption and reduced onboarding friction.
