The procurement covers 38 terminal installations at 30 major airports—including JFK, LAX, SFO and ATL—with deployment slated to begin as early as September 30. The objective: replace stop-and-pose kiosks with frictionless lanes capable of processing up to 3,500 passengers per day with 99 percent uptime. Captured images will feed CBP’s Traveler Verification Service within seconds, clearing low-risk travelers without officer interaction and boosting throughput at peak arrival banks. The contract’s AI clauses require vendors to align with NIST’s AI Risk Management Framework and address bias, privacy and civil-rights safeguards. For corporate travelers enrolled in Global Entry, the upgrade promises shorter waits and a truly “walk-off” arrival experience—critical as international business travel rebounds. Airport authorities also stand to reclaim concourse real estate currently occupied by kiosk pens. Vendors must request to participate by September 17 and deliver two installations per week once awarded, signaling CBP’s aggressive timeline. Mobility managers should prepare assignees for construction-related detours at affected terminals in Q4 2026 and Q1 2027 but can look forward to faster clearance lanes thereafter.
