Airlines issue new UAE flight-status bulletin amid Strait of Hormuz tensions
Gulf News published an updated operations bulletin late on 15 September listing a string of cancellations—including Emirates EK237 to Boston and flydubai FZ815 to Abha—and dozens of delays affecting services from Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The notice underscores that schedules can change at short notice as airlines juggle conflict-related reroutes, crew-duty limits and technical snags. At Dubai International, nine cancellations were recorded across regional and long-haul markets, while Sharjah-based Air Arabia axed multiple Kuwait services. Zayed International in Abu Dhabi saw delays on flights to Cairo, Seoul and Istanbul. Foreign carriers such as Air Canada, British Airways and Singapore Airlines continue to suspend UAE sectors entirely until at least October. The bulletin advises passengers to arrive at least four hours before departure and to monitor airline apps for gate changes—practices that global-mobility departments are now baking into pre-trip briefings. Companies with time-sensitive cargo movements are also being told to build redundancy into supply chains, given that freighter slots are often re-timed when passenger operations wobble. Industry bodies note that the rapid rebound in passenger demand—DXB handled 6.3 million travellers in July—leaves little spare capacity to recover when irregular operations ripple through the network. Carriers may therefore re-time flights multiple times before wheels-up, a scenario that complicates ground-transport planning and duty-of-care obligations for travelling staff. While the bulletin covers only one day’s snapshot, analysts warn that until a durable de-escalation is reached in the Strait of Hormuz, UAE flight operations will remain in a state of heightened fragility.
