Dubai is doubling down on artificial-intelligence tools to cope with record passenger volumes that surpassed 95 million last year. During an annual inspection on 22 September, Police Commander-in-Chief Lt-Gen Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri reviewed nine technology projects ranging from smart-camera analytics that flag unattended bags to AI-assisted passenger-screening lanes. According to the General Department of Airport Security, 86.7 million pieces of baggage were processed in 2025 with 100 per cent compliance to ICAO security standards for the seventh straight year. The new AI layer aims to sustain that record as Dubai International prepares for a projected 5 per cent year-on-year traffic increase tied to the GCC single-visa rollout and the 2027 World Expo bid. Operationally, algorithms now analyse live video to predict queue build-up and dynamically re-assign officers, shaving minutes off processing times—critical for business travellers on tight connections. A parallel baggage-tracking module compares X-ray imagery against behavioural risk profiles, freeing human screeners for exception handling. The technology push sits within a broader “Future-Ready Security” strategy that also counts 4,542 staff through up-skilling programmes and records 96 per cent employee-happiness scores—figures the force links to lower churn and higher procedural consistency. From a corporate-mobility perspective, the upgrades should translate into shorter kerb-to-gate times and reduced missed-connection claims once fully deployed across all terminals. Al Marri signalled that future phases will integrate the smart-gate facial-verification database with external watch-lists, enabling real-time alerts to airlines and immigration, an important capability as regional security threats evolve.
