Although outside the 2026 winter timetable, the early sale of seats reflects strong leisure and VFR (visiting-friends-and-relatives) demand from the UK’s northeast. The move comes six months after easyJet opened a base at Newcastle, quadrupling its route network and giving the airline strategic scope to test Mediterranean markets underserved by legacy carriers. Larnaca will become the carrier’s 32nd route from Newcastle and its sixth UK origin serving Cyprus, reinforcing the island’s resilience in the UK outbound market despite post-Brexit passport validity rules. For Cypriot hoteliers and tour operators, the additional capacity should help extend the tourist season beyond the Easter peak, while British companies with staff posted to the island will gain another regional gateway with direct flights. The route also benefits Cypriot students attending universities in northeast England, offering a one-stop alternative to connecting via London. easyJet Holidays will bundle the flight with accommodation and transfers, simplifying corporate short-stays. Travel managers should note that flights operate only on Wednesdays, so itineraries may need adjustment. Passengers will continue to undergo non-Schengen border checks in Larnaca until Cyprus completes accession.
