Finland’s social-security agency Kela issued a customer notice on 9 October advising that its OmaKela e-service will experience maintenance disruptions from Friday 9 October 20:00 until Sunday 11 October 20:00. During the 48-hour window, users may be unable to download PDF decisions and certificates—documents often required for residence-permit renewals, EU social-security coordination (A1 forms) or proof of coverage when working abroad. Foreign employees reliant on digital benefit statements should therefore retrieve any urgent files before the outage begins. Kela underscored that log-in and form-submission functions will remain operational, but generated PDFs could fail or display incomplete data. The agency did not expect personal data risks, as maintenance focuses on document-rendering servers, yet advised customers to verify downloads once service is restored. For mobility managers, the timing is inconvenient: Monday 12 October is a common payroll and visa-appointment date after Finland’s autumn holiday week. HR teams should brief travelling staff to carry hard-copy benefit proof if crossing Schengen internal borders or attending Finnish Migration Service appointments early next week. The outage also affects the “Leaving Finland” and “Coming to Finland” guidance pages, which embed dynamic PDF checklists. Kela recommends using cached HTML versions or contacting customer service by phone for urgent queries. Normal service is expected to resume 11 October 20:00, but Kela cautioned that follow-up “catch-up” lags in document queues could persist into Tuesday.
