Dubai Business Services, a corporate-services provider, released a detailed “Remote Work Visa 2026 Requirements & Cost Guide” on 12 October, shedding light on one of the UAE’s fastest-growing residency categories. The guide confirms that the one-year visa now starts at AED 600 in Dubai, rising to AED 2,500 for a three-year option—a useful benchmark for digital nomads and multinationals placing employees on extended remote assignments. Unlike traditional employment visas, the remote-work permit does not require local sponsorship; applicants instead submit proof of overseas employment and a minimum monthly income of AED 5,000–10,000, depending on the emirate. Processing is handled by the General Directorate of Residency & Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) or equivalent bodies in Abu Dhabi and the northern emirates. The guide outlines hidden costs—medical tests, Emirates ID issuance, document attestation—that can add AED 450–850 to the headline fee. It also walks applicants through common pitfalls such as incomplete employment contracts, insufficient salary documentation and lapsed international health insurance. For HR and global-mobility teams, the publication offers a consolidated checklist that can be integrated into relocation policies for employees who wish to live in the UAE while remaining on a foreign payroll. Companies are advised to confirm that remote workers understand tax-residency implications and local tele-working regulations, particularly if they intend to take on secondary freelance gigs. The remote-work visa has gained traction as the UAE courts location-independent professionals to boost domestic consumption. Clearer cost transparency is expected to streamline application volumes ahead of the January hiring cycle, when many tech and creative workers relocate to warmer climates.
