SBB has confirmed that several EuroCity trains between Zurich HB and Munich Hbf are cancelled or curtailed today, 12 October, because engineering works on the Buchloe–Munich section have spilled into the final day of a week-long blockade. Replacement buses are running between Lindau-Reutin and Munich’s Hackerbrücke, adding up to 40 minutes to journeys. The disruption follows speed-restriction repairs that forced all EC services off the route from 5-11 October. While most of the line re-opened overnight, track-side equipment tests failed in one segment, prompting Deutsche Bahn to extend the outage by 24 hours. SBB says through-tickets remain valid on the bus bridge and advises travellers to check real-time data before departure. For corporates with meetings in Bavaria or Switzerland, the delay jeopardises same-day returns and tight airport connections at Zurich and Munich. Travel-policy managers may consider switching to the Zurich–Stuttgart ICE link via Schaffhausen or, for cargo, routing via the combined-transport terminals at Singen. Looking forward, the Zurich–Munich corridor faces further slow-downs: SBB’s European works calendar shows reduced speeds on several German stretches through December 2026, potentially eroding the market share gains the upgraded timetable achieved in 2021.
