Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) used the opening day of the LIVEX 2026 expo to unveil a cluster of mobility-focused Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) that push the emirate closer to a driverless, data-driven future. The agreements cover everything from 5G-enabled testing corridors for self-driving cars, to last-mile delivery robots and training programmes for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) pilots. According to ITC Director-General Dr Abdulla Hamad Al-Ghfeli, the goal is to create “an integrated ecosystem that shortens the road from prototype to real-world deployment.” Under the deals, e& will supply edge-computing and cybersecurity support for drone and robotics trials, while Centra Mobility Solutions will build a TestHub facility where global vendors can certify autonomous vehicles against local safety standards. Avantguard Holding will provide high-precision positioning services and digital mapping so that driverless shuttles and freight pods can navigate Abu Dhabi’s desert and urban environments with centimetre-level accuracy. The ITC also inked an MoU with Teleflux to pilot remotely-operated delivery vehicles in new residential districts. Officials say the pilot will generate data for a regulatory framework covering tele-operations, insurance and liability—an essential step before commercial roll-out. Meanwhile, Emirates Falcons Aviation will help establish UAV corridors and eVTOL pads, pairing air-mobility proof-of-concepts with Emirati talent-development schemes. For corporate mobility managers, the agreements signal that Abu Dhabi is fast-tracking the permits, infrastructure and digital platforms needed for autonomous passenger shuttles, air taxis and driverless logistics. Shorter commuter times, contactless border crossings and greener last-mile options could all feed into cost-of-living and assignment-planning models over the next three to five years. The ITC emphasised that private-sector input remains critical; multinationals that participate in early trials can help shape standards and secure first-mover advantage when commercial licences are issued. Mobility teams are therefore advised to monitor forthcoming regulations on testing, insurance and data-sharing so they can future-proof fleet strategies and employee travel policies.
