IRCC has released a snapshot of the Express Entry pool dated October 12 and published on October 17, revealing 229,456 active profiles. The heaviest competition remains in the CRS 451–500 band, which contains nearly 109,000 candidates—about 48 per cent of the total pool. The data drop is significant because it precedes three federal draws held between October 13 and 16 that issued more than 8,200 invitations. Mobility advisers expect the post-draw pool to shrink by roughly 4 per cent once withdrawn profiles are removed, potentially nudging CRS cut-offs lower in upcoming general or category-based rounds. Notably, just 5,746 candidates fall in the 601-plus range, down from over 9,000 in early August after back-to-back PNP draws. The decline suggests provincial programs are nominating fewer Express Entry profiles or nominees are accepting permanent residence offers and exiting the pool. For employers planning LMIA-exempt hires, the snapshot underscores the importance of boosting candidate scores through provincial nomination or arranged employment points. With IRCC now awarding job-offer points to high-wage positions without an LMIA starting November 3, companies should ensure foreign talent updates their profiles to capture the new boost. IRCC normally releases pool statistics every two weeks, but holiday schedules can create longer gaps. Watching pool size and score distribution helps mobility teams predict when their talent is likely to receive an ITA and schedule medicals and police certificates accordingly.
